Aidan Gillen is an Irish actor who rose to prominence for his role as Petyr “Littlefinger” Baelish in the television series “Game of Thrones,” which airs on HBO. His other notable performances include Stuart Alan Jones in the British television series “Queer as Folk,” Tommy Carcetti in the American television series “The Wire,” and Dr. J. Allen Hynek in the American television series “Project Blue Book” on the History Channel.

Born and raised in Dublin, Gillen began his acting career when he was a youngster performing with the Dublin Youth Theatre. In 1982, he made his first appearance on film in an episode of the show “Wanderly Wagon.” After another five years had passed, he made his debut in the film industry with a role in the drama titled “The Lonely Passion of Judith Hearne.” A Broadway production of “The Caretaker” featured him as Mick, and his performance garnered him a nomination for a Tony Award.

Gillen has been the presenter of the live music series ‘Other Voices’ on RTÉ2 for 13 seasons since the show’s tenth installment.
