Christina Grimmie Bio

American singer-songwriter-actress-YouTuber Christina Victoria Grimmie has passed away. She gained notoriety after uploading her renditions of well-known songs to YouTube. As a result of her participation in the NBC singing competition “The Voice,” she gained a lot of attention. Grimmie, who was born in Marlton, New Jersey, had a passion for singing from a young age. She started her YouTube page, via which she initially presented her works, while she was just 15 years old.

Her debut music video featured a copy of the hit song “Don’t Wanna Be Torn” from the hit Disney Channel series “Hannah Montana.” Her fame skyrocketed over the course of four years, to the point where she was drawing in two million viewers. In 2011, she published her first EP, titled “Find Me.” It was a smashing success, with its release placing her at #35 on the US Billboard 200. Over the course of the next few years, she wrote and produced two additional long works, one of which was published after her untimely passing. A studio album, titled “With Love,” was her sole offering. Even more recently, in 2016, Grimmie had a significant part in the indie romantic comedy film The Matchbreaker.

Christina Grimmie, the daughter of Tina and Albert Grimmie, was born on March 12, 1994. Her father was an employee of “Verizon Communications,” while her mother was a receptionist before being diagnosed with breast cancer. Her older brother, Marcus, was her manager on the road.

Grimmie was raised a Christian in his hometown of Marlton, New Jersey. Bethel Baptist Christian School, Marlton Middle School, and Cherokee High School were among the institutions she enrolled in. Having established her YouTube presence in 2009, Christina Grimmie began uploading her original music videos and performances that same year. Her rendition of Miley Cyrus’s “Party in the USA” quickly went viral. She collaborated on a cover of Nelly’s “Just a Dream” with fellow YouTuber Sam Tsui, which has amassed over 172 million views. She started off with a little following, but by April 2013, she had over two million followers.

With 2011’s ‘Find Me,’ she debuted in the extended play scene. She also made appearances at other major events, including a UNICEF benefit concert, in the same year. In addition to that, she has made guest appearances on series including “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and “American Music Awards”.

She uprooted to L.A. the next year to pursue a career in music. Soon after, she was signed by “The creative Artists Agency.” For two months, she fronted the Disney.com web series “Power Up: With Christina Grimmie.” In addition, she has been practicing new songs for her upcoming album.

Her album “With Love,” published that year in August, features a variety of romantic ballads. Featuring the singles “Over Overthinking You,” “Make it Work,” “Feelin’ Good,” and “My Anthem,” the album debuted at position 101 on the “US Billboard 200.” As she shared on Facebook, she tried out for the sixth season of ‘The Voice,’ NBC’s hit singing competition, in 2014. During the blind auditions, she sang Miley Cyrus’s popular song “Wrecking Ball.” Her efforts throughout the competition earned her the win. The final tally put her in third place.

Side A, her second extended play, came out in February of 2016. A total of four tracks made up the album: “Snow White,” “Anybody’s You,” “Deception,” and “Without Him.” On the ‘US Independent Albums chart, it peaked at number 11, and on the ‘US Billboard 200,’ it reached position 171.

When Christina Grimmie was murdered in June 2016, the world was shocked. Side B, her third long-form work, was released after her death in 2017. It also had four tracks, like her last EP: Lyrics from “I Only Miss You When I Breathe,” “Invisible,” “The Game,” and “I Won’t Give up” Her first long play, “Find Me,” is widely considered her finest work to date. The EP debuted at number 35 on the “US Billboard 200” despite its indie release. Furthermore, its first week of release saw it crack the top ten on the US Independent Albums Chart. The album reached number 11 on the “US Digital Albums” chart thanks to songs like “Ugly,” “Advice,” “King of Thieves,” and “Liar, Liar.”

‘The Matchbreaker,’ a 2016 indie romantic comedy, also featured an important role for Christina Grimmie. Wesley Elder, Osric Chau, Victoria Jackson, and Tessa Violet also had roles in the film that Caleb Vetter produced and directed. In this film, a protagonist is a man who intervenes in teen romances at the urging of their conservative parents.
