Dele Momodu was born on May 16, 1960, in Ile-Ife, Nigeria. Many people are still taken aback when they find that Momodu is not from the Yoruba tribe but rather from the state of Edo. There is sufficient evidence to support the conclusion that he is not of that ethnicity. To begin, he was born and nurtured in the ancient town of Ile-life, which, according to the local folklore, has some connections to the annals of Yoruba history. The fact that he is married to a Yoruba lady is another potential rationale.
Because of his temperament and elegance, it is easy to discern that Dele Momodu has a good education. He is the pinnacle of intellect and a student with an insatiable appetite. He received his education at Ile-Ife at the Catholic missionary school known as St. John Grammar Institution. After that, he continued his education at Obafemi Awolowo University, where he earned his degree in Yoruba language studies in 1982. His master’s degree in English Literature was awarded to him in 1988. The university gave him the title of Doctor of Humane Letters, equivalent to an honorary degree in professional letters.
His first career was as a professor at Oyo State College of Arts and Science, where he worked from 1982 to 1983. Dele Momodu held this position throughout that time. As a professor, he only remained in that position for one year until Chief Akin Omoboriowo, serving as the deputy governor of Ondo state at the time, recruited him to work as a private secretary. Despite this, he was employed in the Ondo State Government House for two years until leaving in 1985.
In addition, after his time as an official in the Ondo state government house, he took a position as a manager in the household of the late Ooni of Ife, Oba OkunadeSijuade. It was his responsibility to run the monarch’s business, which was called Motel Royal Ltd., while the monarch oversaw the running of the realm.
He left his position because he felt it was time to broaden his horizons intellectually and contribute to the world of literature. During this period, he worked for the African Concord magazine and was later given the post of Literary Editor of the Weekend Concord, a part of the newspaper. Because of his unrelenting devotion to his work and his talents, he was elevated to the position of News Editor after just six months on the job.
He resigned and found employment with Wonderloaf, a business that Moshood Kashimawo Abiola owned. After that, he worked his way up to become one of the significant bread distributors, but this position lasted for just a short period. After that, he established Goodwill Limited, a public relations organization that counts Dr. Mike Adenuga, Chief MKO Abiola, and a few other notable figures among its clients. Mobolaji Momodu is a beautiful lady who exudes love, happiness, and togetherness. Dele Momodu is married to her, and the two share a home.
They have been married for nearly twenty years, and due to their union, they have raised four children together. His children, Pekan, Yole, Eniafe, and Korewa, have chosen careers that honor and satisfy their mother and father. At the beginning of Dele Momodu’s career, they had a relationship similar to that of a boss and an employee. In the end, the friendship blossomed into a friendly one, and Dele Momodu became a part of the inner circle of the late MKO Abiola.
MKO Abiola amassed an incredible fortune thanks to his successful business enterprise, which brought in tens of millions of naira annually. After MKO Abiola decided to run for president, Dele Momodu became involved in the campaign he was running and began collaborating closely with other Moshood Abiola Presidential Campaign Organization members.
On June 12th, however, General Ibrahim Babangida nullified the election results. As a direct consequence of the action, MKO Abiola and his friends were detained and made victims of the situation. Dele Momodu was not spared; the authorities captured and imprisoned him at Alagbon, located in Lagos. After posting bond, he was freed from custody.
Following his release from a short stint in jail, he continued expressing his disapproval of the anti-democratic acts and policies the late General Sanni Abacha carried out. Sanni Abacha, who claimed that Ayobamidele was the brains behind a pirate radio station named Radio Freedom, falsely charged Ayobamidele with treason by accusing him of inciting violence against the government. Abacha made this accusation.
He devised a plan to flee the country, and then he went into exile. Momodu escaped to Cotonou, continued through Togo and Ghana, and finally arrived in London, located in the United Kingdom. Dele Momodu is a successful business owner, publisher, and leader who began his career as a staff writer. His documented track record stretches back to his time in those roles. The well-known Dele Momodu may not be flashy, but he has financial security. It is estimated that he has a net worth of fifty million dollars.
In the past, Dele Momodu has held positions in the media PR departments of the Social Democratic Party, the Alliance for Democracy (AD), and the All Peoples Party (APP) in Nigeria. He is an experienced politician in Nigeria. After being unsuccessful in those races in 2011, he has stated his intention to run for president again in 2023.
Ovation International was not established overnight; it was first conceived of as a dream by its founder, Dele Momodu. Dele Momodu’s years working in public relations, media, and journalism have all led up to this point. In addition, the intention to portray Africa, and specifically Nigeria, in a different light than had been done before was a driving force behind the project. While living in self-imposed exile in the United Kingdom, Dele felt driven to bring his idea to fruition.
