On May 3, 1997, Desiigner was born in Brooklyn, New York. His ancestors originally hail from Barbados. He began singing at a young age and contributed his voice to the school choir as a child. He spent his formative years in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. When he was just 14 years old, he started writing music under the alias “Dezolo” and released it under his name. Designer acknowledges that his father’s father, Sidney Selby, was a brilliant blues guitarist who recorded numerous albums under the stage name “Guitar Crusher.” The Designer was greatly affected by his father’s father.
Sidney Royel Selby III, an exceptionally gifted American singer, songwriter, rapper, record producer, and actor, performs under the stage name Desiigner. He shot fame by releasing his first single, “Panda,” in 2016. The song eventually reached number one on the ‘Billboard Hot 100’ rankings in the United States. After listening to the music, the well-known rapper Kayne West was so taken with it that he offered Desiigner a recording contract with his label, which is known as “Good.” He contributed his voice to two songs featured on ‘The Life of Pablo,’ Kanye West’s seventh studio album. ‘The Life of Pablo’ was released in 2016.
