G-Eazy Bio

G-Eazy was birth to his parents, Edward Gillum and Suzanne Olmsted, on May 24, 1989, in Oakland, California, in the United States of America. His father has a position as an assistant professor of art at California State University, Fresno. After his parents divorced when he was in the first grade, he moved home with his grandparents in Berkeley, California. He remained there until he graduated from high school.

His mother was an artist and raised G-Eazy and his brother James while working part-time at two separate schools. James was the older of the two. Later, the family relocated to North Oakland, although he maintained his education at Berkeley even after the move. During his formative years, his mother was the one who first exposed him to the possibility of a successful career in music and celebrity by showing him the Beatles movie “A Hard Day Night.”

G-Eazy, who at the age of 14 had already made up his mind to make a career in music, worked various odd jobs to acquire money to follow his goals. Around the time he was 12 years old, his mother had a relationship with a lady named Melissa Mills. Despite his initial confusion and embarrassment, he eventually embraced Mills as a part of the family. Unfortunately, Mills struggled with melancholy and passed away from an accidental drug overdose while he was still a very young man. It was in November of 2021 that his mother, Suzanne Olmsted, died out.

American rapper and record producer Gerald Earl Gillum, better known by his stage name G-Eazy, received his big break with the mixtape The Endless Summer, which he self-released on the internet for free. The mixtape gives him his first significant break in the music industry. Because of the song “Runaround Sue,” which featured Devon Baldwin, a participant on American Idol, in the music video, he received notice for his work.

G-Eazy, who doesn’t believe himself to be a “natural” rapper who would nail it on the first attempt, has the passion and the entrepreneurial drive to make it big in the music business. This allowed him to achieve his goal of being a successful rapper. Even before he released his first full-fledged album, he spent almost a decade honing his craft and cultivating a following in the music industry. He has always had lofty goals and aspirations, such as climbing to the same heights as legendary figures such as Elvis Presley or Tupac.

He established his brand from the ground up, emerging as a hip-hop heartthrob influenced by the manner of the early 1950s and 1960s. This was accomplished by learning from his experiences on the many tours he has participated in. His appearance, which includes black leather jackets and a hairstyle reminiscent of James Dean, conjures up images of the American Gangster period. In Oakley, California, where he was raised, G-Eazy got his start as a rapper while he was still in middle school. At the age of 15, he and several of his pals formed a band called The Bay Boyz and started uploading their songs on a MySpace profile they had created for the band.

Soon after, he started making his mixtapes and selling them one at a time for five dollars. He often attempted to make the CDs seem legitimate by using cover art and a logo he had created on his own. After receiving his diploma, he uprooted his life and headed to the Big Easy, where he enrolled in the Music Industry Studies program at Loyola University. In 2008, the song Candy Girl shot to widespread popularity, and the following year, it was featured on the album The Epidemic. Following the lead of a band from his high school, he decided to tour to develop his fan base as he began to win over new followers.

Christoph Andersson, a fellow student at Loyola University who is also a DJ, was recruited by his management to serve as the opening act for his gigs while on tour. Because of this, they worked together for a significant amount of time, with Andersson traveling with him for an uninterrupted two years and eventually producing and co-writing songs for his albums. At this point, G-Eazy had already established himself as the next hip-hop phenomenon to emerge from the East Bay Area, following the likes of Lil B, Crohn, and The Cataracs in this illustrious company. In 2010, he began opening for prominent musicians like Lil Wayne and Snoop Dogg, which contributed to the explosion in his fame.

After the release of his mixtape, The Endless Summer, in August 2011, G-Eazy established himself as a legitimate player in the music business. The song Runaround Sue, sampled from the original song by Dion DiMucci that reached number one in 1961, became a runaway smash and has received millions of views on YouTube. He was still a student at the university in 2011, so he went on tour with Drake for a bit, but he ultimately had to call off the time because his instructors threatened to fail him if he skipped any more courses.

After graduating from that school in November of that year, he joined Shwayze on the road for a tour around the country. In 2012, he resumed his journeys around the United States with performances on the yearly Vans Warped Tour in June and the Excellent Adventure Tour in July, including Hoodie Allen as a co-headliner. Must Be Nice, his first full-length album, which he had independently published, debuted in September of that year at position number three on the iTunes Hip-Hop Chart.
