Kid Cudi Bio

Kid Cudi is an American rapper and actor who is most known for his ‘new wave’ of rap music, which has served as an inspiration to a large number of other musicians like Kanye West. In 2008, he released his first mixtape under the moniker “A Kid Named Cudi,” which marked his debut in the hip-hop and rap music industry in the United States. By then, Kanye West had established himself as one of the most revered figures in the rap industry.

After listening to Kid’s songs, Kanye felt compelled to contact him immediately. Soon after, Kanye invited Kid to join his record company, ‘GOOD Music,’ which was a pivotal moment in Kid’s professional life. Kid’s career in the entertainment business started with him as a rapper, but he later expanded into acting, songwriting, music production, and video director. He was successful in all of these areas.

2008 saw the release of his first song, “Day ‘n’ Nite,” which quickly rose to one of the top five spots on the “Billboard” charts. This served as an announcement of his entrance into the music scene. The following year, he published his first album, ‘Man on the Moon: The End of the Day.’ The RIAA has awarded the album with its ‘Gold’ rating.

Since then, Cudi has continued his impressive success by releasing five additional studio albums, establishing himself as one of the most successful artists of this generation. He has fundamentally changed a whole field. In addition, he has appeared in several well-known movies and television shows, including “Need for Speed” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.”

Kid Cudi’s real name is Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi, and he was born on January 30, 1984, in Cleveland, Ohio. He was the youngest of the family’s four children and grew up in a home considered to be of the middle class. His mother, Elsie Harriet, was a middle school teacher, and his father, Lindberg Styles Mescudi, was a house painter and a war veteran. His mother taught sixth grade while his father painted houses.

Because of his parents’ constant bickering over little matters, Kid had a challenging upbringing. The kid was only eleven when his father died from cancer. This experience severely damaged his mind, yet music became an efficient therapy. On the other hand, losing his father sent him into deep despair.

The kid went to ‘Shaker Heights High School’ for a while before transferring to ‘Solon High School.’ In his younger years, he showed a reasonable amount of self-control; nevertheless, as he got closer to his senior years, his personality shifted, and he became more violent. He got into fights and eventually threatened to hit the principal, suspending him from school.

Despite this, he was able to enroll in the so-called “University of Toledo” as a film student, but he left the school after just one year.
Even while he had a passion for it, he wasn’t interested in earning a living as a musician; instead, he wanted to be a director. He could not join the navy because of his troubled past with the law.

After beginning his working life in various fields, he eventually settled on a profession in the music industry. After graduating high school, he began rapping as a fun hobby. After the release of his first song, Day ‘n’ Nite, in 2008, he followed it up with the mixtape ‘A Kid Named Cudi,’ which caught the ear of Kanye West.

Kanye West was searching for new ideas for his next album when he came across Kid Cudi and was immediately captivated by his passionate approach to making music. Day ‘n’ Nite got into the top five of the Billboard charts. Kanye West is well-known for his role as a guide for many up-and-coming musicians, and he recruited Kid to assist with the production of his album ‘808s & Heartbreak.’ Kid contributed to the album’s hits as a co-writer and performer, working on songs like “Welcome to Heartbreak” and “Heartless,” among others.

The album went on to become Kanye’s most successful to date, and it also brought Kid to popularity at a young age. He was given the chance to work on Jay-Z’s album “The Blueprint 3,” and leading publications like “Rolling Stone” and “The Source” viewed him as the artist to watch in the future. In addition, he was regarded as an artist to watch out for. The incredibly skilled musician had his first taste of public attention at the 2008 “MTV Video Music Awards,” soon after, he found himself working with Kanye West’s record company, “GOOD Music.”

After achieving his first measure of success, Kid Cudi collaborated with various musicians, including Solange and Snoop Dogg. The song ‘Sky Might Fall’ was published by him as part of the teaser music for the movie ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.’It was a smashing success when he published the album Man on the Moon: The End of Day in September 2009, and only the first week, it sold more than a million copies.

The album was certified two times platinum and debuted in the top five of numerous music charts. Soon after, Kid announced he would work with various musicians, including Snoop Dogg, Clipse, 50 Cent, and Travis Baker. In November 2010, he released his second studio album, “Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager.”

The first track, released under “Erase Me,” was produced in tandem with Kanye West and was a commercial hit. He worked with Kanye for a couple of years longer than initially planned. During this time, the two of them appeared on several of Kanye’s singles and his album “Watch the Throne,” a joint project with Jay-Z.

Some people believed Kid Cudi was primarily working in the shadow of Kanye West, despite Kid creating his waves in the business. Kid desired to have his own identity, which led to a disagreement with his mentor, Kanye, who claimed that Kid had influenced his musical style. However, Kid acknowledged that Kanye was his musical inspiration.

Midway through 2012, Kid released his third studio album, “Indicud.” This was also the final project that Kid worked on while Kanye served as his mentor. In 2013, Kid formally announced that he was no longer a member of Kanye’s ‘GOOD Music,’ but he continued to refer to Kanye as his “big brother.” This statement was made even though Kid was no longer working with Kanye. Following that statement, Kid released his first album under his self-titled record company, ‘Wicked Awesome Records.’

In February 2014, Kid Cudi published an extended play (EP) titled ‘Satellite Flight: The Journey to Mother Moon’ exclusively for the retail market. The album succeeded commercially, reaching its highest position on the ‘Billboard 200’ list at number four. He did substantial promotion for his record in a variety of various media.
