Macklemore Bio

American singer and rapper Macklemore rose to prominence as a member of the illustrious hip hop duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, with whom he is most closely associated. Since they first began working together in an official capacity in 2009, Macklemore and producer Ryan Lewis have been known for their smash singles “Can’t Hold Us” and “Thrift Shop.”

Throughout the course of their fruitful partnership, the team was honored with a number of accolades, including multiple Grammy Awards, such as Best Rap Album for their work on the album titled “The Heist,” Best New Artist, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance for their song titled “Thrift Shop.

” However, after more than eight years of being in a relationship together, Macklemore and Ryan amicably separated ways in order for both of them to have some time to focus on their own artistic endeavors. Macklemore has also released a mixtape, three extended plays (EPs), and four albums under his own independent label.

Beginning his career as a lyricist while he was just a teenager, he had a lifelong passion for music. Elevated Elements was the name of the hip hop ensemble that he co-founded with a few other kids during his time as a student at the high school.

The 2000s saw the beginning of his full-fledged musical career, during which he quickly rose to the status of an international superstar. After completing treatment in a rehabilitation center, this talented singer and rapper formerly struggled with drug addiction but is now clean and sober.

It was when he was six years old that he first heard the music of the group Digital Underground on the radio that he was exposed to hip hop for the first time. He was a big fan of underground East Coast hip hop. He listened to a lot of it. When he was a teenager, he first began penning lyrics.

He joined a program called Gateways for Incarcerated Youth, where he arranged music workshops, with the intention of using his music to communicate with younger people and reach the younger generation. He started his education at Nathan Hale High School and continued it at Evergreen State College, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 2009.

In the year 2000, he made his debut as Professor Macklemore with the release of the ‘Open Your Eyes’ EP, which he was responsible for the distribution of himself. After another five years, in January of 2005, he published his first album, titled “The Language of My World,” which quickly garnered him a significant audience in the immediate area.

In 2008, 2009, and 2011, he gave performances at Bumbershoot, one of the most well-known arts and music festivals in Seattle. 2009 saw the release of his project titled “The Unplanned Mixtape,” which ultimately peaked at position No. 7 on the “Hip Hop” chart on iTunes.

After its first release on ‘The Unplanned Mixtape,’ his breakthrough track ‘The Town’ was later given a new spin by Sabzi of the Blue Scholars. In 2009, Macklemore and his close buddy Ryan Lewis began working together formally as the duo “Macklemore & Ryan Lewis,” and they issued an EP under the name “The Vs. EP.”

They came out with the single “Irish Celebration” in the month of December in 2009. In 2010, the duo released two songs: in March, they released ‘Stay At Home Dad,’ and in October, they created the ‘VS. Redux EP,’ which yielded the smash ‘Otherside,’ which samples the song of the same name by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The duo gave a performance of the song on the 2011 Mariners Opening Day, which took place on April 8, 2011, in front of around 48,000 people in attendance. Following the release of ‘Wings’ on January 21, 2011, on August 16, 2011, they released ‘Can’t Hold Us,’ which quickly became popular on social media.

A music venue in Seattle known as Showbox at the Market hosted the pair for three performances in the same year that were all completely sold out. In addition, Macklemore gave performances at a number of music festivals in the United States in 2011. These festivals included Bonnaroo, Bumbershoo, Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, Rock the Bells, SoundSet, and Sasquatch.

Macklemore and Lewis released their first studio album together, titled “The Heist,” on October 9, 2012. The album debuted at number 2 on the US Billboard 200 chart. In less than a week, it sold more than 78,000 copies. Both “Same Love” and “White Walls” were made available to the public in the same year. In January 2013, Macklemore was featured as an up-and-coming artist in a new series called “Primed” on Music Choice.

Subsequently, in May of that same year, he contributed to Clinton Sparks’ single “Gold Rush” alongside 2 Chainz and DA. In the same year, the song “Thrift Shop” by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis climbed to the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States. According to Billboard, the single was the first song since 1994 to top the Hot 100 chart without any assistance from a major record label.

This accomplishment was credited to the single. The number of times that it had been viewed on YouTube had hit one billion by December of 2016. The song ‘Growing Up (Sloane’s song)’ was made available for free download by Macklemore on August 5, 2015, then a few days later, he published a single titled ‘Downtown.’ On August 30, 2015, he gave a performance of this song during the MTV Video Music Awards.

On February 26, 2016, the pair released their second studio album, “This Unruly Mess I’ve Made.” Their first track, “Can’t Hold Us,” reached the top spot on the Hot 100 Chart, making them the only pair in the history of the chart to have both of their singles debut at the top spot. Their second single was titled “Can’t Hold Us.” Both “Drug Dealer” and “Wednesday Morning” were Macklemore’s first solo singles, and they were both released in 2016.

Macklemore opens up about his struggles with substance abuse and alcoholism in his song titled “Drug Dealer.” After the elections in the United States in 2016, he rapped about the political destiny of the country on the show “Wednesday Morning.” In 2017, Macklemore and his long-time partner Ryan Lewis decided to take a break from their partnership in order to concentrate on their own businesses.

The decision was made amicably. Macklemore came out with his first solo single in almost a decade and a half in June of the same year, titled “Glorious.” Skylar Grey provides the vocals for the upbeat and inspirational hook. The song is about making it through difficult circumstances and emerging stronger for the experience.

Macklemore is also highly successful on his YouTube channel, which he began on November 27, 2006, and is titled “Macklemore LLC.” As of June 2017, it had accumulated more than 2 billion views across its platform and 4.8 million users. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’s first studio album together, titled “The Heist,” is without a doubt one of their most well-known works. The album had a strong start, entering at position number two on the Billboard 200 chart.

It featured the mega-successful track “Thrift Shop,” which reached its highest position on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and also topped the charts in 17 other nations. The album was a big success not only in terms of sales but also in terms of critical acclaim. In 2013, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis were nominated for a total of six American Music Awards, and they ended up winning two of them.

Favorite Artist of Rap and Hip-Hop as well as Favorite Album of Rap and Hip-Hop (‘The Heist’) Macklemore and Ryan Lewis won four Grammy Awards at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards in 2014, including Best New Artist, Best Rap Album (for “The Heist”), Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance (for “Thrift Shop”). Together, they were nominated for a total of seven awards at the ceremony.

In August of 2008, he checked himself into a rehabilitation center for treatment of alcoholism and drug addiction. In 2011, following a period of abstinence that lasted for three years, he experienced a brief relapse, which he describes in his song “Starting Over.” On January 21, 2013, he proposed to his girlfriend, Tricia Davis, whom he had been seeing for the previous seven years. The couple had been seeing for the previous seven years.

Sloane Ava Simone Haggerty was born to him and his fiancée on May 29, 2015. She is their first child together. They tied the knot on June 27, 2015, just over a year after the birth of their daughter. Because he is a very loving and attentive father, he hopes to spend as much time as possible with his daughter. Because he wanted to spend more time with her throughout the day, he decided to construct a recording studio in the lower level of his house.
