Tove LoBio

Ebba Tove Elsa Nilsson, better known by her stage name Tove Lo, is a musician from Sweden who writes songs and sings. Her grandmother gave her the stage name and nickname Tove Lo because she noticed how much the young woman adored lynxes. Tove in Swedish means lynx, and Lo is an indication of the singular form. She got her start in the music industry as a member of the band Tremblebee, which disbanded after only a few years, during which time she wrote songs and performed them live at a variety of places.

Prior to their breakup, the rock band Math self-released a few of their tracks under their own label. Tove made the decision to pursue a career as a solo artist and focused on making pop music. She began writing, producing, and developing her debut record while she was living in her shed, which she converted into her studio. She worked on the record while she was in her shed. During that period, she took on session singing jobs in order to bring in some additional income.

Her demo was well received by A&R, and as a result, she was offered a publishing contract with Warner/Chappel music and the chance to collaborate with music producers and songwriters such as Max Martin, Xenomania, Shellback, and Alexander Kronlund. She also began self-publishing her compositions on the internet, where she gained a sizeable following, and she earned a publishing deal.

Tove was able to obtain a record deal with Island and Polydor thanks to the strong content she created, which led to the release of her debut EP, titled Truth Serum, as well as her breakthrough album, titled Queen of the Clouds.
Lo was an excellent student who always received high grades in all of the topics she took. She developed a serious interest in literature while she was in school, which sparked her creativity and led to the creation of her own poetry and short stories.

As time went on, her interest in creating her own prose morphed into an appreciation for music, and she and her friends eventually started a girl band. She created her first song when she was in her early teens (between the ages of 10 and 11), and by the time she was a teenager (15 years old), she had already performed on stage twice and had written a collection of songs with the highest quality lyrical content.

Her passion for music led her to enroll at the famed Rytmus Musiker gymnasiet in Stockholm, which is a musical magnet high school. After two years there, she received her diploma from the school. Lo discovered her love for pop music and began honing her skills as a singer and songwriter during her time as a student at a high school. Amy Winehouse, Jeff Buckley, and other artists like them were a significant source of motivation for her.

Despite the fact that her parents wanted her to take a career path that was more solid for her and that they had other job preferences, she chose to pursue a career in music when she graduated from high school. Tove’s first extended play, titled “Truth Serum,” was released in 2014 and is about the strong love affair she had in the past, from the happy beginnings to the steps she made to move on when the relationship ended. The electropop EP received a lot of positive feedback from reviewers who praised both the lyrics and the production.

It achieved the 13th spot on the Albums Chart in Sweden and the 8th spot on the Albums Chart in Norway, ultimately becoming the 49th best-selling record of 2014. The singles ‘Out of Mind’ reached the 39th position on the Finnish Airplay chart, ‘Habits (Stay High)’ reached the 3rd position on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and ‘Stay High’ secured the 13th position in Sweden as well as top 10 positions in New Zealand, Australia, and the United Kingdom.

Tove’s next release was her album titled “Queen of the Clouds,” which came out before the end of 2014. This album was a commercial success, as it sold more than 190 thousand copies in the United States. On 2015, the album peaked at position 36 on the Danish Albums (Hitlisten) chart and position 49 on the US Billboard 200 chart. Additionally, the album gained a top 50 spot in the charts of Finland, Australia, Norway, and New Zealand.

The lyrics of the album delve into the mental anguish that can result from being in an unhealthy relationship and demonstrate how Lo turns to self-inflicted suffering and substance misuse in order to get through the traumatic experience of a breakup. This album was awarded four Platinum certifications: one each from the United States (RIAA), Poland (ZPAV), Sweden (GLF), and Brazil (Pro- Musica) (RIAA). The song “Habits (Stay High)” was recognized as “Song of the Year” at the Grammis 2015 ceremony, which took place in Sweden.

It also reached the top three positions on the Billboard Hot 100 list in the United States.  The second single, titled “Talking Body,” sold over 2 million digital downloads and landed at position number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States, position 16 in Sweden, and position 17 in the United Kingdom. On the charts in Sweden, the promotional single titled “Timebomb” reached the fourth position. Throughout the years 2015 and 2016, Tove was featured in a number of singles by well-known artists.

One of these was DJ Alesso’s single “Heroes (We Could Be)” for his album “Forever,” which became a smash and peaked at number 5 in Sweden, number 31 on the Billboard Hot 100, and number 6 in the UK. In addition, she was featured on the song “Come Back to Me” by Urban Cone, which was included on their album Polaroid Dreams.

Lo got the STIM platinum guitar award in 2015 and sang and co-wrote the song “Scars,” which was used on the soundtracks of the movie “The Divergent Series: Allegiant” in 2016. In addition, Lo won the prize in 2016. Next, Tove released her sophomore album, titled Lady Wood, in 2016. She described the tone of the album as being “darker and dreamier.” The album debuted at number one on the Swedish Albums chart, ranked 11th on the US Billboard 200 chart, and landed in seventh place on the Norwegian Albums chart.

The first song from the album, titled “Cool Girl,” achieved the 15th spot on the charts in Sweden and was certified Platinum by Sweden (GLF), as well as Gold by Australia (ARIA), France, and the United Kingdom (BPI) (SNEP). She presents herself as a sophisticated girl who is interested in open relationships in this song. She stated that the lyrical substance of the song was influenced by the psychological thriller film “Gone Girl,” in which the character of the femme fatale Ammy Elliot-Dunne “goes from becoming a victim to a psycho.”

She noted that this was the inspiration for the song’s theme. True Disaster, Fairy Dust, and Influence were some of the other tracks on the CDs (featuring Wiz Khalifa). After that, in 2016, Lo uploaded a short film she had acted in herself and titled “Fairy Dust” on the Vevo and YouTube platforms. This movie co-exists with the first six songs on her album titled Lady Wood. Tove has confirmed that her previous singles “Light Beam” and “Pitch Black” will appear on her upcoming third studio album, which she is currently working on.

Over the course of her career, Lo has written over seventy songs for other singers as well as for her own albums and extended plays. Her composition, “Heroes (We Could Be),” which was recorded by Alesso, debuted in the top ten of the charts in both Sweden and the United Kingdom and was awarded two Platinum certifications in that country.
She collaborated with Ellie Goulding on the song “Love Me Like You Do,” which was included in the movie “Fifty Shades of Grey.”

The song topped the list for singles in the UK and placed third on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It was for this song that she was nominated for her first prize at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards. Tove is responsible for writing the lyrics to a number of songs that have been used in movies. Some of these songs include “Scream My Name” for “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1,” “Scars” for “The Divergent Series: Allegiant,” and “Lies in the Dark” for the “Fifty Shades Darker” movie.

She has collaborated on musical projects with a wide variety of musicians from the music industry, including Nick Jonas, Urban Cone, Hillary Duff, Adam Lambert, Coldplay, and others.
Lo has had a number of relationships that have ended in heartbreak, but it is likely that she is not dating anyone at the moment. Despite the fact that she has never been in a romantic relationship with a woman, she has claimed that she identifies as bisexual when asked about her sexual orientation. She calls herself a “hobby lesbian” all the time.
