Jabari Shelton, best known as ASAP Bari (stylized as A$AP Bari) or Young Lord, is an American streetwear designer and entrepreneur. He was born on December 23, 1991. Young Lord is also associated with the name Young Lord. In 2006, he was one of the individuals who established the New York hip-hop collective known as ASAP Mob. Alongside ASAP Yams, ASAP Kham, and ASAP Illz, he contributed to the formation of this group.
Also, before his dismissal in October 2022, he co-founded the streetwear apparel business VLONE. During the year 2006, Shelton, together with A$AP Yams, A$AP Kham, and A$AP Illz, established the rap collective known as A$AP Mob.2 [2] Shelton does not contribute to the Mob as a musical artist (rapping or producing). Still, he controls the collective’s creative functions and networks with other persons.
According to the allegations, Shelton was the one who brought the rapper A$AP Rocky to the rapper A$AP Yams. While establishing himself in the rap business, two other Harlemites, Sean Combs and Dame Dash, were his primary sources of inspiration. Shelton and fellow ASAP Mob member Kamoni Chandler, better known by his stage as A$AP K, established the streetwear label VLONE for the first time in late 2011. This was in response to the success of many members of the ASAP Mob, most notably Rocky.
In a short time, hoodies and tees made by VLONE became well-known on the streets of Harlem. Shelton, who had previously served as the head of merchandising for A$AP Rocky during his tours, collaborated with Chandler on the brand. Shelton took over the brand when Chandler departed it after their disagreement. Shelton decided to bring in Edison Chen of CLOT, who is responsible for the label design.
While living in Harlem, he and his friends would try on and steal garments from high-end labels. In an interview with Mass Appeal, he said that a significant portion of his impact stemmed from the fact that they would feel the fibers of these brands. “You live alone, and you die alone” is the motto that has become synonymous with the VLONE brand, which is more than simply a brand in and of itself.
It was in 2014 that VLONE presented its very first collection. In 2017, VLONE entered into a relationship with Nike. Additionally, on July 31, a Nike spokeswoman revealed that the VLONE agreement with Shelton was discontinued as a result of the emergence of a video showing him sexually abusing a lady in a hotel room.VLONE took part in its first runway presentation, which took place during Paris Fashion Week in June of 2017.

After that, she says that Bari smacked her in the buttocks and threw her out of the room while she was naked. She then reportedly called the police and had the hotel management contact them. He subsequently indicated that the video was between “friends” and that they had “resolved this issue amicably among all parties as adults.” Shelton first declared on Twitter that the video was “fake,” but he later clarified that the video was just between “friends.”
The lady filed a lawsuit against Shelton in November 2017, claiming that he had sexually abused her and seeking more than one million dollars. Despite this, the case was eventually dropped because she decided not to continue the investigation in the future. The allegations of sexual assault that were linked to the event were brought against Shelton on May 18, 2018, when he was apprehended at Heathrow Airport in London. On January 3 2019, Shelton entered a guilty plea to the sexual assault that occurred in London in 2017. He could escape a probable jail term by paying the victim two thousand pounds.
