David Howard Thornton Bio

David Howard Thornton is a well-known American actor who is most recognized for his performance as Art the Clown in the films Terrifier (2016), Mistress Peace Theatre (2020), Terrifier 2 (2022), and Bupkis (2023). He has also starred in other roles. Other movies, television shows, and video games in which he has appeared include Two Worlds II: Pirates of the Flying Fortress (2011), Ride to Hell: Retribution (2013), Invizimals: The Lost Kingdom (2013), and Gotham (2017). He has also voiced characters in several video games.

The Bravest Knight (2019), The Exigency (2019), Alma’s Way (2021), and acting as the Mean One in The Mean One (2022) are some of the upcoming films that he will appear in. Thornton has provided his voice for several characters in various media, including movies, television, and video games. In the video game Two Worlds II: Pirates of the Flying Fortress, released in 2011, he provided the voices of Malvic, Volran, and Tengo. Later, in 2013, he supplied the voices for characters such as Anvil, Dr. Blotter, and Baggy Miner in Ride to Hell: Retribution. He also performed the voices for Shizoku, Metal Mutt, and Toxitoad in Invizimals: The Lost Kingdom. In 2015, he gave Miss Hokusai more votes than he had recorded.

He appeared as the Joker in the fan-created webseries Nightwing: Escalation from 2016 to 2017 and then appeared in Gotham, both of which were productions that contained characters from DC Comics. In the horror movie Terrifier, released in 2016, Thornton played the role of Art the Clown. This performance earned him a nomination for the Fangoria Chainsaw Award in the category of Best Supporting Actor. Terrifier went on to become a cult classic. Thornton played Art the Clown again in the sequel to Terrifier, released in 2022.

On a budget of under $250,000, Terrifier 2 made over $15 million worldwide and garnered positive reviews from film reviewers. It was also successful at the box office. In the horror remake of How the Grinch Stole Christmas! that was released the same year, 2022, Billy Bob Thornton played the title role in The Mean One. Thornton played Art the Clown again in the 2023 Peacock television series Bupkis, and the character is scheduled to appear again in the next film Terrifier 3.

In the forthcoming film Night of the Living Dead 2, he is scheduled to play the role of Shark Bait Zombie, and he is also expected to play the role of Player 2 in the upcoming film Stream. Since the release of Terrifier in 2016, David Howard Thornton has established himself as a leading figure in the horror genre. He is most recognized for his performance as Art the Clown. Despite this, he has shown his skill in various works, from providing cartoon characters’ voices to portraying nefarious antagonists. These roles are an excellent illustration of David Howard Thornton’s creative ability and wonderfully demonstrate his tremendous variety.

In addition to his well-known film roles, Thornton has also contributed his voice-acting talents to several video games. His impressive work can be seen in various video games, like Two Worlds II: Pirates of the Flying Fortress, Ride to Hell: Retribution, and Invizimals: The Lost Kingdom, to name just a few of them. Even though these roles are quite different from Art the Clown’s signature role as a silent entity, they nevertheless display his ability.

Thornton has a supporting part as a voice actor in the animated science fiction movie The Exigency, which will be released in 2019. Filmmaker Cody Vibbart worked on the project for thirteen years to complete it. The story focuses on the challenges of the planet Gallehsa, which is contending with an invasion from an adversarial planet. The only way to have a chance against Diederick, a war hero from the planet Anumbis, is to bring in a veteran of the conflict.

Together with other voice performers such as Tom Haney, Alexis Danner, and Warren Halderman, Thornton provides the voice of the character Bumbo. The Exigency is an exciting and original take on the science fiction genre, even though it is only available on Prime Video in a restricted capacity and has visuals that have seen better days. Thornton’s ability comes in the speech, giving the character the ideal blend of humor and tenderness.

One of the more recent parts that Thornton has played is that of the antagonist Art the Clown in Episode 8 of Bupkis, a Peacock comedy series that is only tangentially based on the life of Pete Davidson. Beyond his public demeanor, it offers viewers a glimpse into the many facets of Davidson’s character that are both candid and lovable. In the illustrious cast, Joe Pesci plays the role of his grandpa, while Edie Falco takes on the part of his mother. Ray Romano, Keenan Thompson, Steve Buscemi, and many other famous actors also make cameo appearances. Because it stays loyal to Davidson’s sense of humor and style, comedy lovers will like seeing it very much.

In the horror-thriller film The Dark Offerings, which will be released in 2021 and be directed by Marcus Slabine, the protagonist, Sophia, is a young woman whose brother brings a demon and its curse upon her. After she is possessed, she has just six days to escape the curse by passing the devil on to other individuals, unaware they are infected. Should she be unsuccessful, she and her brother will both perish. Because of this, she has no choice but to confront the crisis head-on and fight for their lives to preserve them.

The filming of The Dark Offerings and Thornton’s performance as Tim Cobb took place during a quarantine period to create a tale using webcam video is what makes them unique from other versions and films. Because of the project’s popularity, the actors had to modify their performance style to accommodate the new filming approach. Thornton’s superb facial expressions and body language lend the right amount of anxiety to the role and generate suspense that is well above and beyond what one would anticipate from a low-budget webcam production.

The Christmas story “The Mean One,” originally written by Dr. Seuss, was reimagined for the big screen in 2018. Krystle Martin plays Cindy, while Thornton plays the significant role of The Grinch. In this telling of the event, a young Cindy witnesses the unidentified guy in the Santa outfit carrying out the deed that results in her mother’s death. After some time has passed, her therapist proposes that she visit the village where she grew up to assist her in coming to grips with the tragedy. Unfortuitously, Cindy is not the only one intending to pay an unwanted visit, and as a result, it is up to her to prevent the Grinch from going on another killing rampage.

Even though the role of the Grinch does not have any lines of dialogue, Thornton’s portrayal as the character is nevertheless one of the few positive aspects of this movie. Because of this, the only thing he can do to induce a feeling of dread and uneasiness in his audience is to use his body language, facial expressions, and intense glances, which he has repeatedly shown to be quite good at. The movie has a lot of flaws, but if there is one positive thing that can be taken away from it, it is the forceful reminder that the viewer is given of how David Howard Thornton can establish a terrifying presence in any situation, regardless of the setting.
