Ella Henderson Bio

As a contestant on the ninth season of the British reality TV music competition “The X Factor,” Ella Henderson rose to prominence in the United Kingdom. Despite many predictions to the contrary, she came in sixth place in the singing competition. Nonetheless, Simon Cowell of “Syco Music” thought Ella had enough skill to sign her to a record contract.

She was born in Lincolnshire, and at the age of ten, she taught herself how to play the piano. She sang her song “Missed” on “The X Factor,” which got her into the competition. As the competition went on, she became a fan favorite to win, but eventual victor James Arthur outlasted her by a hair. Despite what many saw as a shocking and unfair elimination from “The X Factor,” she was able to sign lucrative recording contracts after the program. She further strengthened her hold on the UK and international music industries by releasing hit singles, albums, and tours.

Ella Henderson was born on January 12, 1996, in the village of Tetney, which is part of the East Lindsey area in the English county of Lincolnshire. Her father, Sean Henderson, was originally from Scotland and made a fortune as a car salesman before switching careers to real estate development in Dubai. Her Swedish ancestry comes from her mother, Michelle Henderson. There are three members of Ella’s family: Fraser, Patrick, and Holly, who is the youngest.

She had also taught herself to play the piano by the time she was ten. She became close emotionally to her grandpa Bill when they hit it off. Bill’s encouragement and aid were crucial in Ella developing her voice and songwriting abilities. St. Martin’s Preparatory School in Grimsby, where she studied during her elementary years, gave her a great boost in her interest in the performing arts. After finishing elementary school in 2007, she attempted to get admission to the prestigious ‘Tring Park School for the Performing Arts,’ Hertfordshire using an audition.

She attended the prestigious “Tring Park School for the Performing Arts” on a full scholarship as a boarder from the ages of eleven to sixteen. Even though she grew up in the sleepy English town of Tetney, Ella has always been focused on her career. After dating Matt Harvey, an engineer from her hometown of Grimsby, she broke up with him to concentrate on her work. Her father, Sean Henderson, was arrested and charged with embezzlement, theft, and money laundering in June 2015.

She appeared on season nine of “The X Factor” for her audition, and one of the judges, Tulisa, guided her through the process to help her improve her performance. During the live performance, she delivered a song called “Missed” that she had written for her grandfather, who had passed away. The song was finally included on her first album after it was recorded.

Both James Arthur and Ella had a difficult start to the competition and were eliminated in the seventh week despite the fact that James Arthur made it all the way to the finish of the competition. Despite this, both of these bright young vocalists made it through to the semi-finals with the full backing of the judges.

James and Ella were both in a strong position with a chance to go on to the quarterfinals as the main round came to a close. James moved on in the competition despite receiving just 13.7% of the vote, while Ella’s 12.1% was insufficient to keep her in the running. Out of all the ladies that competed, Ella was the only one who made it to the final round before being eliminated.

Many people were taken aback by the abrupt firing of Ella Henderson, which was seen as a severe setback. Ella garnered support from a number of renowned individuals, including Cher, Nick Grimshaw, Lily Allen, Sarah Millican, and Simon Cowell, both while the competition was live and after she was eliminated.

O’Leary, who served as a judge on “The Xtra Factor,” said that she was the most gifted candidate he had ever seen perform on the show during his tenure there. After Ella was booted out of “The X Factor” in December 2012, she appeared on “The Saturday Night Show” and sang a rendition of the Christmas carol “Silent Night.”

In January 2013, she made the announcement that she had signed with Simon Cowell’s record company, Syco Music. Ella had a performance on the X Factor concert tour in 2013, during which she sang catchy songs such as “You Got the Love,” “Missed,” “Rule the World,” and “Believe.” She sang the song once again at the 18th annual National Television Awards in January of that year, which took place later in the year.

In 2013, Ella performed a number of original songs, as well as mashups of other songs, live and on television. She later uploaded these performances on YouTube. Rapper Audrey Graham’s “We are Going Home” and John Newman’s “Love Me Again” were two of the prominent mashups, but some of the originals, such as “The First Time,” “Evaporate,” “Five Tattoos,” and “Waiting,” were also memorable. Both songs were performed by Audrey Graham.

Ella revealed the title of her first studio album to be “Chapter One” in March of 2014 when she made the announcement. She worked on the lyrics for the album in tandem with a number of artists and producers, including Babyface, Salaam Remi, and Claude Kelly, amongst others. She also made the announcement that she would be releasing her first song, “Ghost,” which she and Ryan Tedder had collaborated on earlier in the same month.

Both the music video and the single for “Ghost” were released on June 14th, 2014, and both were filmed in New Orleans. The artist performed a performance on the May 2014 season of “Britain’s Got Talent” before the single was released in June of that same year. Soon after it was made available to the public, “Ghost” shot straight to the top of the Singles Chart in the UK. The second single published by Ella was titled “Glow,” and it was released on October 5, 2014. Ella and Camille Purcell were the authors of the song’s lyrics. Only nine days after she recorded it, her studio album “Chapter One” was made available to the public.

Later on, in November of that year, Ella released the song “Yours,” which she had co-written with Josh Record. Then, in March 2015, she published the single “Mirror Man,” which she had co-written with Al Shux. She went on her first statewide tour in October of 2015, and around that time, she performed with the British pop band Take That.

She made the announcement on her Instagram account at the end of 2016 that she has completed composing and recording new songs for an upcoming album. Max Martin, a producer, and Danny O’Donoghue, of ‘The Script,’ contributed to the writing of her second album as well as its recording and production.

In 2017, Ella Henderson revealed that she will support James Arthur on his “Back from the Edge” stadium tour by performing as a warm-up act at certain venues. On the ninth season of “The X Factor,” Arthur came out on top and won the competition. During the month of June 2017, she and the other contestants on The X Factor gave a rendition of “Bridge over Troubled Water” by Simon & Garfunkel.

This rendition of “Bridge Over Troubled Water” was recorded for the purpose of raising money for those who lost their homes in the Grenfall Tower fire in London in June of 2017. After the song was first made available, it did not take very long for it to go to the top of the Singles Chart in the UK. Ella said around the end of 2017 that she and James Arthur, who had been a finalist on X Factor, had collaborated on a recording of a duet. The collaboration is going to be included in her forthcoming second album. Her next album will include some of the songs that she presented for the first time during Arthur’s concert tour.
