On January 16, 1980, in Upper Manhattan, New York City, United States of America, Lin-Manuel Miranda was born to Puerto Rican parents, Luz Towns and Luis A. Miranda, Jr. His mother was a clinical psychologist, and his father was a New York City Mayor Ed Koch consultant. He was the only child of his parents. Luz is Miranda’s elder sister the Chief Financial Officer of the ‘MirRam Group.’

Even though Miranda spent most of his boyhood in Inwood, Manhattan, he made it a point to visit his grandparents in Vega Alta, Puerto Rico, at least once yearly for thirty years. According to Miranda, his lineage is about one-quarter Mexican. The poem “Lin-Manuel,” which was composed by José Manuel Torres Santiago during the Vietnam War, served as the inspiration for his given name.

Following the completion of his primary and secondary schooling at “Hunter College Elementary School” and “Hunter College High School, he enrolled at “Wesleyan University” to pursue his chosen field of study, which was theatre studies. After receiving his diploma, he taught English to high school students before moving on to other endeavors.

His early exposure to various musical styles sparked his passion for hip-hop at an impressionable age. He composed jingles that were subsequently utilized in Eliot Spitzer’s campaign for the governorship of New York in 2006. He created the initial drafts of “In the Heights” when he was still in college and created a hip-hop comedy group called “Freestyle Love Supreme.” During that time, he was also writing the musical.

In 2002, Miranda started his professional career. With John Buffalo Mailer, he collaborated with director Thomas Kail on producing the revived version of ‘In the Heights.’ In 2004, author Quiara Alegra Hudes became the third member of this group of three people. In March of 2008, the musical ‘In the Heights’ debuted on Broadway, where it became an enormous success. It was active for a continuous period of two years.

His first piece of work earned him four “Tony Awards,” as well as awards for “Best Musical” and “Best Original Score,” respectively. In addition to that, it was honored with the Grammy Award in 2009 for “Best Musical Theater Album.”Stephen Schwartz, the musical’s composer and lyricist, asked Miranda to write two new songs for the reworked version of the Working musical that he and Nina Faso had written in 1978. Miranda complied with this request.

The ‘Asolo Repertory Theatre’ in Florida was the location of the musical’s world premiere in May of 2008. Miranda collaborated with Stephen Sondheim on translating the 2009 Broadway revival of ‘West Side Story’ into Spanish. His work might be seen further outside, only on Broadway. In the episode of “Remember When,” in which he appeared as a special guest star, he was seen on the show “The Sopranos.”

In the first episode of the sixth season of “House,” aired in 2010, he performed as the character “Alvie,” Gregory House’s hospital roommate. In 2009, he participated in the revival of ‘The Electric Company as an actor and composer in 17 episodes. The skit “Hardly Working: Rap Battle” from “CollegeHumor” featured him as a rapper who was also interning at a company.

Miranda was a guest star on many episodes of the long-running children’s television program ‘Sesame Street.’ In addition to that, he provided the vocals for the show’s signature theme tune, “Murray Has a Little Lamb.”In the “Manhattan Times,” he contributed to a column that provided reviews of various restaurants. In addition to that, he has provided music for several other advertisements. Miranda, together with Tom Kitt and Amanda Green, was responsible for the composition of the music and the writing of the lyrics for the musical “Bring It On,” which had its debut in January 2011 at the “Alliance Theatre” in Georgia.

Ultimately, it was considered at the Tony Awards in the categories of “Best Musical” and “Best Choreography.”Additionally, he appeared in several other television programs. In 2011, he appeared in the television series “Modern Family” episode titled “Good Cop Bad Dog.” In addition to that, he appeared in the ninth season of the sitcom ‘How I Met Your Mother.’ Miranda’s musical ‘Hamilton’ tells the narrative of one of the United States’ Founding Fathers of America and was inspired by Ron Chernow’s biography of Alexander Hamilton.

Miranda had composed a rap on Alexander Hamilton before the creation of ‘Hamilton,’ which he presented at the ‘White House Poetry Jam’ on May 12, 2009. Miranda devoted a year to the composition of the song “My Shot,” which was ultimately selected as the third number in “Act 1” of the musical. By 2012, he had penned lengthy set pieces that he later called the “Hamilton Mixtape.”
