Bolton is best known for his tenor vocals and soft rock ballads, but he began his career in hard rock and heavy metal. The One Thing, Time, Love & Tenderness, Soul Provider, and Timeless: The Classics are just a few of his well-known albums. For his third studio album, ‘Michael Bolton,” he teamed up with Columbia Records in 1983 and released it in the fall of that year. Negative reviews were given to the album.

In 1985, the Columbia Records company released his fourth album “Everybody’s Crazy,” which was panned because of the muted vocals on it. The album’s title tune was a big smash.

His breakout album, ‘The Hunger,’ was published in 1987. ‘That’s What Love Is All About’ and ‘The Dock of the Bay’ were two of the most popular tracks on the album.

He released ‘Soul Provider,’ his sixth studio album, in 1989, and it went on to become one of his best-selling works. Music charts peaked at number one for “How Am I Supposed to Live Without You.”

Time, Love and Tenderness’ was one of his best-selling and most popular albums published in 1991. ‘When a Man Loves a Woman’ was one of the most popular songs on the album. ‘Timeless: The Classics,’ his hugely successful 1992 album, reached at No. 1 on the music charts. As part of his breakthrough album The Hunger, Bolton wrote and sung “That’s What Love Is All About” and Otis Redding’s “(Sittin’ On) the Dock of the Bay,” which became a radio smash on four different formats. That album has been certified double platinum and has sold over 4 million copies.

Michael has had nine studio albums and nine #1 singles in the top ten on the Billboard album chart to date. Netflix’s original comedy Michael Bolton’s Big Sexy Valentine’s Day Special was released alongside his most recent album Songs of Cinema, a collection of great cinema soundtrack songs.

In addition to reworkings of Motown and soulful oldies, his most recent CD incorporates original material in the same style.

The Oscar-nominated “Go the Distance” from Walt Disney’s blockbuster animated film Hercules and the most current Russell Crowe film Fathers & Daughters both contain Michael’s songs and performances. He was nominated for an Emmy for the song “Tears of the Angels” that he wrote for the documentary Terror at Home, which deals with domestic violence in America. This year, Michael is working on a feature-length documentary, Gotta Keep Dreamin, about the revitalization of the city of Detroit in the 21st century.
