She persuaded her parents to let her sign a contract at 17, allowing her to begin her career as a showgirl in Viva Les Girls at The Dunes in Las Vegas. She had a small part as a showgirl in the James Bond movie “Diamonds Are Forever,” which was released in 1971, and she was featured as a topless dancer in “The Working Girls,” released four years later in 1974.
In 1976, she appeared in a stripper photo shoot for the cover of Tom Waits’ album “Small Change.”Elvis Presley became her acquaintance in Las Vegas, and he was the one who inspired her to pursue a career in singing.
