Greg Gutfeld Bio

Gregory John Gutfeld is a comedian, author, political analyst on the libertarian side of the political spectrum, and American television personality. He was born on September 12, 1964. He was the host of the late-night comedic talk program Gutfeld! from May 2015 until March 2021; he was also the host of the Saturday night version of Gutfeld! Dubbed The Greg Gutfeld program. In March 2021, it was announced that the show would move to weeknights.

In addition, Gutfeld is a panelist and one of the five co-hosts of the political discussion program known as “The Five.” The Fox News Channel is where you can see both of his agenda. Between 2007 and 2015, Gutfeld was the anchor of the late-night chat show series 3 AM Red Eye, also shown on the Fox News Channel.

Gutfeld was the son of Jacqueline Bernice “Jackie” (née Cauhape) and Alfred Jack Gutfeld and was born in San Mateo in California. He was brought up in the Catholic faith. After attending the all-boys Roman Catholic Junipero Serra High School, he went on to get his bachelor’s degree in English from the University of California, Berkeley. He graduated in 1987.

After graduating from college, Gutfeld gained valuable experience working as a research assistant for the conservative author R. Emmett Tyrrell at The American Spectator. After that, he became a member of the writing team at Prevention magazine and served as an editor for several publications published by Rodale Press. In 1995, he started working as a Men’s Health magazine staff writer. In 1999, he was appointed editor-in-chief of Men’s Health magazine. David Zinczenko took over in his stead a year after being fired.

After that, Gutfeld was promoted to the position of editor-in-chief at Stuff, which was a publication once owned by Dennis Publishing. The number of copies printed rose from 750,000 to 1.2 million during his term as publisher. In 2003, Gutfeld paid six dwarfs to attend a Magazine Publishers of America convention on the issue of “buzz,” with orders to be as noisy and irritating as possible.

The prank successfully garnered notoriety but also led to Gutfeld’s dismissal shortly afterward; he then joined Dennis Publishing as the head of “brain development.” Between 2004 and 2006, he served as the editor of Maxim magazine in the United Kingdom. After readership dropped while Gutfeld was in office, his contract was not renewed when it was up for renewal.

From the time that The Huffington publish initially went online in 2005 until October of the following year, Gutfeld was one of the first writers to publish there. His coworkers at The Huffington Post, including Deepak Chopra, Cenk Uygur, and Arianna Huffington, were frequent targets of his commentary.

The late-night chat program “Red Eye” on the Fox News Channel was hosted by Gutfeld beginning on February 5, 2007, and he held this position for a whole year. The program lasted for one hour and was first broadcast at 2:00 AM Eastern Time on weekday mornings, Monday through Saturday, and at 11:00 PM on Saturday nights.

On the other hand, starting in October 2007, the program started broadcasting at three in the morning, Monday through Saturday, while it continued to run at eleven on Saturday nights. Bill Schulz worked as Greg Gutfeld’s sidekick from 2007 to 2013, while Andy Levy was the show’s ombudsman during that same period.

While working at Stuff magazine, Gutfeld had been Schulz’s coworker, and Levy had been Gutfeld’s fellow blogger at The Huffington Post. The political discussion program The Five on Fox News airs weekdays at 5:00 PM Eastern Time, and Gutfeld has been a co-host and panelist on the show since it premiered on July 11, 2011. After Gutfeld departed from Red Eye in February 2015, Tom Shillue took over as host of the show he had previously hosted.

The first episode of The Greg Gutfeld Program, a new weekly late-night talk program on Fox News, premiered on May 31, 2015, and was hosted by Gutfeld. The show was broadcast on Saturdays at 10:00 PM Eastern Time. It was announced in February 2021 that the program would begin airing on weeknights at 11:00 PM Eastern Time (ET) starting in the year’s second quarter.

On March 10, 2021, it was revealed that the new nightly program would be named Gutfeld! And that it will debut on April 5 of the same year. In August of 2021, Gutfeld! Surpassed The Late Program with Stephen Colbert in the nightly ratings, becoming the late-night talk program in the United States with the most outstanding ratings overall. It had more viewers on average each night than The Late Show, which was 2.12 million.

During a part of Red Eye that was broadcast on March 17, 2009, host Greg Gutfeld and his panel examined Canadian Lieutenant General Andrew Leslie’s comment that the Canadian Armed Forces may need a one-year “synchronized break” after the completion of Canada’s mission in Afghanistan in 2011: “This means that the Canadian armed forces want to take a break so that they can do some yoga, paint some landscapes, and go for a run on the beach while wearing some gorgeous white Capri pants,”

Doug Benson, a comedian who also participated in the panel, said, “I didn’t even realize they were in the war… I was under the impression that one went there if they did not want to engage in combat. Go relax in Canada.”[19] In a separate statement, Gutfeld said, “Isn’t now the best moment to invade this stupid country? They do not own an army. The video clip was uploaded on YouTube three days after it was announced that four Canadian troops had been killed in Afghanistan, which resulted in tremendous anger.

Kandahar Province, often known as the birthplace and former capital of the Taliban, had been under Canada’s command as the head of the NATO operation for the previous three years. In conjunction with Helmand Province, it was described as “home to some of the fiercest opposition to coalition forces” and was said to “have the highest casualty rates per province.”

After the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Gutfeld said that the media used video from the fight to manipulate viewers emotionally “…because that makes a profit for news companies.”Benjamin Hall, a foreign affairs journalist for Fox News who was on the ground in Kyiv, responded to Gutfeld by saying, “This is not the media trying to drum up some emotional response.” Gutfeld received criticism for his comments.

This is unquestionably what is taking place. A few days later, in a surprise assault on the journalists carried out by Russian troops, Hall was left with significant injuries. In contrast, Pierre Zakrzewski, who also worked for Fox and was a journalist, and a Ukrainian journalist both lost their lives. Additionally, Gutfeld’s mother-in-law, Elena Gutfeld’s mother, was rescued from Ukraine thanks to Steve Brannigan and Lucas Tomlinson, coworkers at Fox News.
