John Edward Walsh, Jr. is an American television presenter, criminologist, and victims’ rights campaigner. He is also the host and creator of America’s Most Wanted. Walsh was born on December 26, 1945. As a result of the murder of his son, Adam, in 1981, he got interested in anti-crime campaigning. In 2008, the dead serial murderer Ottis Toole was formally confirmed as Adam’s killer. He is well-known for his involvement in this campaign.
Walsh was a co-owner of the National Museum of Crime and Punishment in Washington, District of Columbia, which is no longer in operation. Additionally, he oversaw the production of an investigative documentary series called The Hunt with John Walsh, which made its premiere on CNN in the year 2014. During the summer of 1981, Walsh worked in Hollywood, Florida, while also holding a position as an official who worked for the Paradise Island Hotel and Casino in The Bahamas. His son, Adam, who was six years old, was born to him and his wife, Revé.
The kidnapping of Adam took place on July 27, 1981, inside a Sears department store located at the Hollywood Mall (now known as Hollywood Hills Plaza), just across from the Hollywood Police Station. During the time that Revé was searching for a light, she had left Adam in the toy section at Sears, where he was playing with a miniature video game system. There was no sign of Adam when she came back a few minutes later.
